Design

On the market, Alcatel One Touch 890D is available in several color combinations - black with orange, black with lilac, and black with gray. Later, it seems that other colors are also promised, but these data have not been confirmed yet.

I am sure that bright colors of the body will attract adolescents from among the representatives of the beautiful half of humanity, after all, however, the color of the hull is focused exclusively on the teenage girl.

But the device, the body of which is made of gray and black plastic, received a more universal orientation. In such a color Alcatel One Touch 890D looks simpler, somehow even unpretentious - such a typical workhorse.

Functional elements

The front panel in the Alcatel One Touch 890D for two-thirds is reserved for the display.

Above the display there is a small slot of the communication speaker, from the inside backed by a dense mesh.

A little below the display is a row of touch buttons, behind which, in turn, the keys for working with calls, as well as a large HOME button.

As for the touch buttons - this is a button to return to the previous sub-menu, the key "responsible" for launching Google's search line, as well as the button for launching the context menu.

The rear panel completely covers the battery cover. In the body it is realized a small pedestal, which in turn has two small slots. One of them is designed to output the eye of the built-in camera, and the other "covers" the hands-free speaker.

On the right side panel there is a volume control button.

On the border with the lower end there is a small gap designed to allow the user to remove the battery cover. In essence, of course, to do this maneuver, you can also poddev cover on the edge of the loop fastening the safety lanyard. However, from the point of view of convenience, such a decision is far from the most interesting, so the expediency of this gap is fair.

The left panel has a micro-USB port.

On the upper end is already mentioned the loop of fastening the safety lanyard, as well as a 3.5 mm jack for wired headphones.
The bottom panel remained without any functional elements.

Display

Smartphone Alcatel One Touch 890D received a 2.8 inch display, implemented on the basis of a resistive matrix.

The resolution of the display is 240x320 pixels, color rendering is 262 144 shades.

Hardware display is covered with a thin layer of transparent plastic, which protects it from the effects of environmental sources.

To say that the resistive matrix is ​​a minus to the potential of the device, I can not - nevertheless, however that may be, but in this case the price justifies such a decision.

But the sensitivity of the display to the touch is not always good - often you have to apply some effort that the menu icon "reacted" to pressing a finger or a thin "lifeless" object. But the price, in my opinion, completely covers this nuance.

Accelerometer worked well - the display "unfolds" without slowing down, it is only necessary to turn the device itself.

The grain is noticeable in the display. Of course, it is small, and in conditions of working in a normally lit room, the presence of grain does not affect the display of the data in any way, but in case of hitting the panel of sunlight, extinction, especially from the corners, is palpable. However, hardly for anyone this situation can be a surprise - yet we have a budgetary system.
Memory and battery
"Standard" memory in the Alcatel One Touch 890D, the one that is designed to install various software - 150 MB.

Audio, video, photos, as well as other plan data can be stored in the removable drive's memory. The standard memory card for working in Alcatel One Touch 890D is microSD, and the maximum capacity is 16 GB. Unfortunately, the system does not provide a "hot" replacement of the memory card. Although, on the other hand, it seems unlikely that by inserting even 8GB of storage, the user will constantly change the "flash drive" - ​​for a device of the class presented by Alcatel One Touch 890D - the declared volume is sufficient for full-format operation without changing the drive as such in general.

Battery capacity 1000 mAh. One 100% charge according to the manufacturer, is enough for six hours of operation under load conditions, or 400 hours in standby mode. In practice, one charge sufficed me for a day of good loads - at least 2.5 hours for calls, as well as 2.5 hours of activating other functions and applications in the device.

Speakers

Alcatel One Touch 890D has received two types of speakers - communication and hands-free speaker.

The sound of the communication speaker is quite good, the subscriber is well audible already at two-thirds of the maximum level, even if the user is in a loud place. It's nice that there is no distortion of sound.

The handsfree speaker "screams" is wonderful - you will not be able to hear the incoming call even if the user is in the same room and the device is in the adjacent room. With a certain amount of comfort, of course, if the user is not a music lover, you can listen to audio, though with the condition that the user stays in a room closed from outside noise.
Equipment and shell
"On board" smartphone processor MediaTek MT6516, the clock frequency of which is 420 MHz, which, of course, is far from standard, but its money "beats" completely.

About the exact amount of RAM of official data, at least for the time being, but in combination with the "regular" processor of these features is quite enough for normal operation of the smartphone in the "normal" load mode.

Initially, the smartphone got at its disposal the operating system Android 2.1, but according to official data, the Ukrainian user "out of the box" will receive a device with OS 2.2.

The system does not have any proprietary shell menus, only the "regular" shell of Android, which has already been retold more than enough. However, on the other hand, it's still a question of whether this shell is necessary in the Alcatel One Touch 890D by definition.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

The Wi-Fi module implemented in the Alcatel One Touch 890D supports the 802.11 b / g profile. From a functional point of view, the features of the module are simple. Of course, if an open access point is detected, the system "signals" this to the user. In addition, if necessary, the user can configure the IP address, etc.

The Bluetooth module for receiving and transmitting data operates at speeds of 2.1.
A2DP profile and many others are supported. In the module menu, the user can make the device visible to other objects, configure FTP, etc.
Internet and email
WEB-surfing in Alcatel One Touch 890D provides a "regular" Internet browser.

In the browser menu it is possible to work in several windows mode, create bookmarks and easily manage them, search on the page, select a part of the text or all the text presented on the page, receive information about the page, send the page via e-mail, or SMS / MMS messages, etc. Of course, full-format work with security settings is also available.

Work with e-mail is provided by two "regular" applications - the Gmail client, and also an application on the basis of which the user can register several accounts with binding to the most popular email servers.

Dual-SIM

In the Alcatel One Touch 890D only one radio module is implemented, and therefore I recommend immediately setting up a diversion between the SIM-cards, since if during a conversation with one SIM-card a call to another one is made, the system will respond that at the moment the user is out of range network.

Make a call from one or another SIM-card conveniently - there are separate buttons for sending outgoing calls. The same is true for SMS messages.

Curiously, for WEB-surfing the user can use any of the SIM-cards, without rebooting at the same time. All you need is to mark the priority for the WEB SIM in the corresponding sub-menu.
Music and built-in camera
The built-in audio player supports the formats MP3, AAC, WAV, WMA. Player is the simplest - the standard application, which is available in the "bundle" of the Android OS.

In addition to the audio player, Alcatel One Touch 890D is also "rich" in the application "FM-receiver", Shazam, etc.

The built-in camera is based on a matrix of two megapixels. The camera did not receive a flash. Software has a standard number of settings for such devices, among which even the ability to assign a geo-tag.
